Personal Growth Challenge: “Be a Better Me in 30 Days” (#30BBM)

The world makes way for the man who knows where he is going. - Ralph Waldo Emerson – I have always been a damn perfectionist. I think of that trait as both a gift and a curse. A curse because it often slow me down in my work. I often found myself in unproductive situations such as over-planning or continuously reworking and revising my work, because I always want it to be ‘perfect’. But being a perfectionist in a way is also a gift. It makes me restless, always looking for room to improve and grow, either as a person or [ ... ]

Have the Courage to Follow Your Dream: A Lesson from The Mighty Macs

A sense of boredom was what urged me to pick up a movie from my DVD collection in the first place. Another case of minor health problem, forced me into taking bed rest last weekend. With nothing better to do, I reckoned a good movie would improve my mood. So I chose to watch The Mighty Macs, a movie based on the inspiring true story of Cathy Rush,  the head women’s basketball coach at Immaculata College from 1972-1977. According to Wiki, Cathy Rush led tiny Immaculata College (under 500 students) to three consecutive AIAW national titles from 1972-1974. She led the [ ... ]

Things I Love Monday

Hi All!  It’s been a long time since I wrote an edition of “Things I Love Monday”. This is a series of posts that I plan to write every Monday, consist of all the things that I’m grateful for this past week. Why do it on Monday? Well, everybody always says “I hate Monday”. Monday is usually considered the least favorite day of the week, maybe because it represents the end of a lazy weekend and the beginning of a hectic workweek.  Therefore, by writing this gratitude list every Monday, I’m aiming to start every Monday thinking about happy things, thus [ ... ]

My 21 Days of Safety Driving

I have a confession to make that I am not proud of. I am in need of a serious behavior adjustment. Recently I realize that I have a serious downside in regards to driving, which is my love of speed. Not that I need to drive fast. It’s just that I want to get to where I am going as fast as possible. I don’t like to take my time with it.  I could not stand driving behind a car which ran too slowly to my liking or being cut and forced to hit the breaks by a passing car or motor [ ... ]

12 Best Inspirational Songs from Glee!

Have you watched Glee? I have and I totally LOVE IT! Glee is a musical comedy-drama television series that airs on Fox in the United States, and has been a phenomenon since its first season in 2009. During its first season, Glee received generally favorable reviews from critics and won several awards, including the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy (source: wiki). I really love the show because the story alone is inspiring.  It’s about a group of kids on a high school glee club, New Directions, who loves to sing! They struggled against adversity from [ ... ]

Why Laughter is Important and 7 Simple Ways to Do it More

Do you remember the last time you laugh out loud? A real hearty laugh that made your body shake, your tummy felt tight, and your eyes water. Was it this morning, yesterday, or has it been a while? I was grateful to have that experience this morning. My friend shared a link to a very funny video which made headline in Indonesian news recently, and it made me laugh so hard. It felt awesome! I wish I had done it more often. [ ... ]

Find Happiness in Simple Things

This is an old post of mine.. I re-publish it as a reminder for my self and my readers to take those small steps..  little by little build happiness from doing good deeds to others, however insignificant it may seems. And also, don’t forget to say thank you to anyone who lend a helping hand or give you help when you least expect it. From my observation, many people (especially in Jakarta) are ignorant to both acts..doing good deeds and saying “thank you” for receiving one. Let’s start a new movement in this area, starting from ourselves!  Enjoy doing those [ ... ]

A Moment of Reflection

I just realized something about me recently. I realize I’ve been so caught up in my everyday problems that I simply forget to stop and take a good look at my life right now. I mean.. Hey! Life is good, actually. I’m healthy, I have a roof over my head, a stable job (however problematic it may seems), a loving family, a beautiful city with clean air that I get to live in, and a boss who is supportive, though sometimes gave me headaches. In fact this afternoon, I get to see a real rainbow just outside my room. How about that! [ ... ]

Generasi Synergy – Barry Likumahuwa Project ft. Pandji

This song is for my fellow Indonesian out there. It is a good song to remind us to stop asking for “Change” but simply “Be that Change”. How many time did we sit lazily in front of the television, complaining about everything that’s going on in our country? We complained for the lack of democracy, we complained for the lack of opportunity, we complained for the rising poverty rate, we complained for the perpetual corruption, we complained that something is too little or too much. All the while, we just sat there, and did nothing. Don’t you think it’s time for us to [ ... ]

FC Barcelona: My current obsession!

At last.. It came.. The package I’ve been waiting for almost a week. The most expensive piece of clothing I ever bought in my entire life! My very own AUTHENTIC FC BARCELONA HOME SHIRT 2010/2011! With Lionel Messi’s name and number 10, printed on the back. How cool is that! *dance I know most people would think that I’m way over my head. How can I bought something which price maybe is ten times more than the actual cost, or 6 times more than the market price of a regular football shirt with the same quality? That amount of money can buy a lot of [ ... ]
